How we rebuilt MOD's system in under 5 months

The Platform Lock-In Wall
Every education founder hits the same wall. You start on WordPress and WooCommerce because it's flexible. You customize what you can. You hire someone to push the plugins further. And then one day you realize the platform is running your business.
That's where MOD Institute was. The founder, Dr. Wally Renne, had built something genuinely special - a continuing education platform for dental professionals that was growing fast. But every new idea ran into the same answer: "The platform doesn't support that."
He wanted custom enrollment flows, integrated B2B licensing for spa chains, and a mobile experience that didn't feel like a wrapped website. The platform couldn't do any of it.
What We Built
We rebuilt the entire delivery system.
The old system was a monolithic LMS doing everything - content hosting, payments, user management, certificates, reporting. Every piece was locked together, which meant changing anything risked breaking everything.
We broke it apart. Content delivery became its own layer. Payments and subscriptions became their own layer. User management and certification tracking became their own layer. Each piece could evolve independently.
The result looked simple from the outside - a clean, fast learning platform that worked beautifully on phones. But underneath, every system was purpose-built and independently scalable.
Content Migration Was the Hard Part
We expected the technical migration to be the hard part. It wasn't. The hard part was content migration - moving years of course content, student progress, and certification records without losing anything or disrupting active learners.
We built a parallel-run system. Both platforms operated simultaneously for two weeks. Every student action was mirrored. When we finally cut over, the only difference students noticed was that everything was faster.
What Happened After
Within six months of launch: revenue doubled. For the first time, Dr. Wally Renne could execute on the ideas he'd been sitting on for two years.
B2B licensing launched within a month of the new platform going live. The mobile experience drove a 40% increase in course completion rates. And the enrollment flow - custom-designed around how dental professionals discover and evaluate CE programs - converted at nearly twice the old rate.
Your system is the bottleneck. Let's fix it.
